Introducing Alison

Alison joined Transpower in 2014. She has held a number of senior executive roles across various industry sectors, most recently as Global Head of Chemicals for Orica PLC.

She is currently a Director of Ports of Tauranga, and has also been a Director of Genesis Energy. Prior to these roles, she held a number of senior roles at Fonterra Cooperative Group and across the Fletcher Challenge Group in Energy, Forests and Paper. Alison has a MBA from Warwick University, and studied Engineering (Chemicals and Materials) at Auckland University.

Transpower owns and operates the National Grid – the high voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across New Zealand.

We keep New Zealand's energy flowing by:

transporting bulk electricity from where it is generated (by companies like Meridian Energy and Mighty River Power) to cities, towns and some major industrial users (like New Zealand Steel)
connecting with smaller lines companies (like Vector) who package and deliver that power to the doorsteps of New Zealand’s homes and businesses
managing New Zealand’s power system (as the System Operator) so that electricity is delivered whenever and wherever needed, 24/7.
